Why not book a complimentary 15-minute session to get to know each other?
Building The Relationship: As we begin therapy, this stage is essential to build trust and safety. This is your journey; I am just helping you with directions!
Setting Goals: Together, we will explore the reasons for coming to therapy and identify goals and priority areas you want to work on. We will discuss your treatment plan and the sessions required to reach your goals.
Session Agendas: Unless you request, sessions aren’t typically planned, allowing topics to arise freely. Between sessions, there may be suggested activities or reading for you that support your goals.
Implement new skills and track progress: You will learn new skills, such as mindfulness and stress reduction and become familiar with your thoughts, feelings, and reactions. You may be looking to improve communication and relationship skills.
What does ending therapy look like? Or, does it have to end? Therapy can be a long or short-term solution, some clients say goodbye once their therapeutic goals have been achieved and some prefer to have an ongoing relationship to support life's challenges. Whatever you choose, I am here for you.
Sarah's therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning she draws from various evidence-based techniques to tailor her approach to each client's unique needs.
One of the most common types of therapy Sarah uses is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT explores the relationship between feelings, thoughts, and behaviours and often focuses on identifying negative thoughts and replacing them with healthier ones. This technique is specifically beneficial for clients experiencing anxiety and depression symptoms.
Another area that Sarah utilizes often is strength bombardment and empowerment through a humanistic lens. When focusing on how we can achieve our potential, self-esteem and self-compassion can often result.
Psychoanalysis is also a passion for Sarah. This type of therapy, developed by Sigmund Freud, is one of the oldest and trusted treatment methods. Some deep and meaningful healing work can be done by uncovering and examining significant events or patterns from the past that may be influencing your current state.
